- I liked Cop Shack on 101 a lot. Jason Ridge is a cop transferring from Los Angeles to a smaller city. At the beginning of the movie he meets some of the police officers he’ll be working, Alex Brawley being one of them. You can feel the sexual tension between Jason Ridge and Alex Brawley, and director Joe Gage carefully threads that tension through the whole movie, baiting us to watch more and hoping that in the next scene these two cops are going to jump one another. Joe Gage was a little before my time when he produced Kansas City Trucking Company (1976), El Paso Wrecking Corp. (1977), and L.A. Tool & Die (1979) – I was still a teenager then, figuring out that I liked boys. So, it's a real treat to see finally Gage's work. I recall hearing about his big comeback in 2001 after a decade-long disappearing act with Tulsa County Line, but I haven't seen it.
Just as we're expecting Jason Ridge to announce that he's needs to piss (wink wink) to lure Brawley off to the bathroom, Alex Brawley gets a burglary call and excuses himself from the group of officers. Alex shows up at Collin O’Neal’s house and Collin, who is wearing a bathrobe, comes out to meet the officer. I have to say that I was very impressed with the acting in this scene.
